Welcome!
This is just a first post, nothing interesting here past that. I am hoping that this blog will help me organize what I go towards in this fun journey.
So for the moment I want to just throw tech specs up and what my plan is to go towards. I'll start with the tablet I just bought and will be starting out with.

This is the Huion H420. Its a good tablet to start as far as I can tell. I looked at bamboo tablets as well and this has similar specs to a Bamboo tablet that was priced at 70 dollars (USD) where as this was priced at 30. As far as I am concerned, I can upgrade later on to something bigger.

The machine I will be using is my Mac Pro 1,1, which will be replaced later on I can only assume. It has:
- 2X 2.66 GHZ Xeon 5150's
- 16 GB DDR2 FB-Dimm Ram (full)
- 1.75 TB HDD Space
- Nvidia 9800GT
- Running OSX El Capitan
It could have a better GPU, sure, but I edit video with this machine. Why use this and not a windows PC? I'm a linux user and I refuse to use windows. I like OSX so I'll use this.
"But then why not use linux?"
Because I will be using OpenToonz as my animation software. OT doesn't have a linux compatible binary as of yet, but there is a test build being made at the moment. Until there is a linux version, I'll be on OSX.
Alongside OpenToonz, I will be using GIMP, Krita, and Inkscape in order to learn the tools more in depth. I am most familiar with GIMP so most likely I will start there, but many people use Krita and Sai. I would use Sai, but I have never really used it for anything so I want to stay with what I know.
Past all of that, at the time of writing this, the Huion H420 is in the mail and will arrive Wednesday (its Monday). Until that comes, I will be learning about OpenToonz and helping out on the farm I live on. If I don't post before then, I won't be doing much else.
